Baked Ziti with Shortcut Vodka Sauce
|
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Cook ziti until al dente, then drain.
Brown sausage in a Dutch oven, then add onion, garlic, and tomato paste.
Stir in vodka, marinara sauce, and cream, simmering until thickened.
Remove from heat, and stir in Parmesan. Mix 2 cups of sauce into pasta.
In a baking dish, layer vodka sauce, ricotta, pasta, and mozzarella.
Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
Bake for 30 minutes until cheese is melted and browned.
Garnish with parsley. Enjoy!

12 ounces uncooked ziti pasta
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound hot Italian sausage, casings removed
1 yellow onion, finely chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)
3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1/4 cup tomato paste
3/4 cup (6 ounces) vodka
1 (40-ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 2 3/4 ounces), divided
1 (15-ounce) container whole-milk ricotta cheese (about 1 2/3 cups), divided
3 cups shredded low-moisture whole-milk mozzarella cheese (about 12 ounces), divided
Chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, for garnish
